How Addison Rae’s rise to fame became her downfall

Tiktok influencer and actress Addison Rae isn’t the same person she was in 2020. Rae first rose to fame when she joined the popular TikTok group The Hype House in December of 2019. Being in half of the videos they posted, the videos consisted of dance videos, pranks, and reactions.

The Hype House consisted of 14 people, Rae being one of them. Famous singer Alex Warren and Addison Rae were the 2 most successful people to ever come out of the Hype House, with Warren hitting number one on Billboard and Rae becoming an actress and artist.

Rae’s disapproving fanbase started when she first signed a brand deal with American Eagle, who made her dance to a song about certain disorders. Rae has had certain incidents in the past – one being when Rae’s dad betrayed his wife with a woman who was very close to Rae’s age.

Due to the nature of most of her controversies, they are not appropriate to bring up. However, since Rae became a big artist, people are starting to dislike her music and are posting about how it’s heavily autotuned and fake.

Between 2019 to 2025, her style has completely changed. Her fanbase is younger, between 10 and 18. This sparked some problems with her older fans, with them being upset about why she’s dressing so revealing while she has fans so much younger. “She used to be so modest, wearing clothes that covered her.” Said senior Kylie Miotke. From making dancing videos in sweats, to getting ready with me in revealing clothes, people have noticed how much she has changed.

Taylor is a Freshman and this is her first year being a part of The Bark. She enjoys writing features and creating layouts for journalism, along with taking photos of student life at Grant. Lillian Oplawski, Writer

Lillian is a senior and this is her first year on The Bark. She loves to write, she reads quiet offten and has been inspired by the several books shes read to write some of her own. She hopes that joining journalism will be a nice start to her writing career. Besides school, she likes to hang out with her friends, watch movies and run. She’s excited to be able to write her own stories and share the voices of Grant Community High School.
