The trends of toys have changed from year to year, though, there has always been a consistent market of fidget toys, such as fidget spinners, slime, pop-its, taba squishes and now most recently NeeDohs, or to be more specific, squishy toys in general. NeeDoh is a popular line of soft stress balls that are designed to help reduce stress, increase focus and entertainment, made by Schylling Toys. Needohs seen anywhere from on desk tops in offices to in teens’ hands during school.
Chemistry and physics teacher, Meghan McKinney, says, “I’ve noticed that more and more students nowadays really struggle to focus in class compared to 10 years ago, and a lot of students are using fidgets when they need to focus.”
“I think that NeeDohs are very good tools to have. They help kids with ADHD and autism, and help kids focus.” Suzanne, a sales worker from Snickelfritz Toys, explains.
These toys come in many different forms and textures. For example, some fidgets are filled with a shaving cream or a clear, stretchy dough. The lineup features a variety of shapes and textures, making sure each user is satisfied.
After surging in popularity during quarantine, the NeeDoh craze dipped in interest before making a major comeback. People started taking desperate measures to get their hands on these NeeDohs. Though some ask, what’s so special about them? Social media set the standard for that. This is one of the many instances on how social media works, an influencer hypes a certain product and young viewers blindly follow. “The kids go bananas!” Suzanne exclaims when talking about the new shipment of NeeDoh’s coming in.
In the last week of January 2026, Amazon searches for NeeDoh topped over 1 million. As of February 2026, retailers report that NeeDoh products are flying off the shelves at a high and consistent rate, one they’ve never seen before. McKinney states, “I’ve noticed that more stores have them now, but they do not stay in stock for long. They’re always out of stock on Amazon.”
Now onto a more serious topic, some users online have tried microwaving and freezing their NeeDohs, to change their texture to how they prefer. The company has publicly responded to this, advising their buyers to not do this as this can ruin the product and can cause serious chemical burns or injuries.
Other than NeeDohs, another popular toy known as “Mystery Dumplings” have hit their all time peak and trend status, spreading across platforms like Tiktok where unboxing clips get millions of views. The hype specifically thrives on adrenaline and surprise as they are boxed and a mystery. The goal is to get the ultra rare dumplings, which leads to in many cases having to buy multiple dumplings, which ultimately leads to overconsumption, duplicates, and stores struggling to keep them in stock.
With millions of views on social media, NeeDoh remains a highly popular and portable tool for stress reduction and entertainment. It seems that there is a consistent pattern throughout social media as fidgets continue to make a big impact and history.
