GCHS Dawgs Are Working Hard to Show Their Skills for the Grant Got Talent Show
Grant’s Got Talent

On March 13, NAHS (National Art Honor Society), alongside Grant’s art department, hosted the annual talent show, Grant’s Got Talent. Grant’s Got Talent debuted in 2008, and this year, the show had more participation than ever, with 28 participants from Grant’s choir, theatre, band programs and more.

The show awards 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place winners chosen by unknown judges, with an audience-choice award determined by the spare change in the performers’ coin jars. At the end of the show, judges awarded senior singer Brady Nix third place for his interpretation of “Glycerine” by Gavin Rossdale, junior singer Derrick Rios earned second place with his performance of “My Way” by Frank Sinatra, and Sophomore singer and actress Sara Hawkins placed 1st with her rendition of Walter White and “Baby Blue.”

Hawkins described the moment, “I was having a fever dream. I felt extremely happy and grateful with disbelief. It means the world to me that I entertained so many people and just got to be myself while performing.”

The audience choice award was given to juniors Sophie Dollinger and Audrey Simcoe for their performances of “Therapy” from “Tick Tick… Boom!” Dollinger illustrates her remarkable experience,”I’m glad I got to do it with one of my best friends. It was an amazing and memorable experience.” Simcoe adds, “Doing Grant’s Got Talent with one of my closest friends was already fun–but winning the audience choice was definitely the cherry on top!”

Grant’s Got Talent proved to be a night of strong acting, vocals, musical performances and remarkable memories that are cherished forever.
