Fly-In Programs Give Students a Closer Look at College

Thinking about college? A fly-in program could be your ticket to making a confident choice about your future.

Fly-in programs offer high school students a unique chance to visit colleges at no cost. They provide a deeper, more immersive experience than typical campus tours. Participants fly to their college of interest, meet with administrators, and connect with current students, gaining firsthand insight into campus life.

“Fly-in programs are authentic and immersive compared to college visits,” senior Angela Salamat, a student at Grant Community High School and leader of the program’s funding efforts explains. She emphasizes that these visits offer eye-opening information and help students build relationships with staff before enrolling. For many, this experience clarifies whether the college environment is the right fit.

By taking advantage of the college fly-in program, students can make well-informed decisions about their education and future.

Jaylynn is a freshman and this is her first time doing something with photography, wiriting news, and doing different stories for journalism. She enjoys taking pictures of her surroundings and putting meaning behind the words/pictures that she does. Jaylynn does boxing and karate out of school and is currently a blue belt and does tournaments some of the time for it. She also plays guitar and is very into metal and rock. She has been to so many concerts. Jaylynn is really interested in physcology and wants to take courses in the subject next year. She hopes to make a positive impact on the school and wants a good future for herself and the people she cares about.

Delaney is a freshman and this is her first year on The Bark. She enjoys photography and writing. She loves being able to express her opinions and writing about other people and events that happened in the past. She joined because she loves to write and read. Outside of school, she plays softball and wrestles, she loves to go to the beach, and hangs out with her family and friends.
