The 2023 Dog Pound leaders includes part of the super fan section during a varsity football game.

Grant’s school spirit is seeming to take off to a new level this year.  This new feeling of school spirit is coming through the dog pound leader’s use of social media, and communication with the student population. One of the dog pound leaders Nate Maxwell expressed that, ¨More people want to be engaged at the games and are willing to go out of their way to go to away games and put more effort into their costumes.¨

With the help of dog pound leaders Nate Maxwell, Connor Mirocha, Kolten Bergl, Jael Ivory, Josie Torrey, and Angelina Sosa the chanting never comes to an end. You can find the dog pound leaders at the bottom of the student section bleachers supporting Grant’s football players every Friday starting at 7 p.m. Every chant and cheer the Dog Pound uses is one step closer to a better version of school spirit.

I am a sophomore Journalism is important because it sets you up for new skills that can be helpful in English and other life skills. I joined journalism that way I can have new opportunities and learn new skills when it comes to writing. I am a varsity cheerleader and use my speaking skills to advertise for the magazine. Journalism has helped me gain many new skills that I will be able to use in the future.

Hi! I'm Mikayla Sekulich a senior. I joined journalism because, during my sophomore year, my amazing English teacher convinced me to join journalism. I decided to give it a shot, to get out of my comfort zone and try something completely new. I immediately learned I had an eye for photography. This class made me realize that I want to study graphic design and photography in college. Thank you Mrs. Maestranzi for everything and for pushing me in the right direction. Journalism is important so people can share their voices. An interesting fact about me is I play volleyball!
