As a student who is about to graduate high school and go down a path that will lead to my career, I am now forced to not only think of what I want to do for the rest of my life, but what will still be an available position for myself. Artificial Intelligence (AI) may not be taking over the world terminator-style like the science-fiction dystopian realities preface, but in a way AI is already in charge. In recent years of schooling, everything has switched to online. With the online identity that school has begun to build, students have found ways to use AI to help with academic success. While AI in education has gained mainly notoriety through the use of the website Chat GPT and other AI writing websites to write entire articles for students, these same websites can be used as sources for writing styles and organization.
A healthy balance is needed but will most likely not be achievable for the bulk of students. Students, now that cheating is easier than ever, will continue to find the easy way out of work, and it is only becoming harder to prevent. While more and more websites are popping up as tools and becoming options for students to be able to improve their writing skills, as students, let’s be honest and admit that sites like Chat GPT are most of the time used to cheat and finish an assignment quickly without having to put an ounce of work into getting a good grade. While students continue to do this, writing skills, productivity, and creativity remain in an accelerating downward trend.
