Ever since Natalia Martin was a child, she loved to bake. Earlier this year, she realized that there wasn’t a club dedicated to doing something for which she had a deep endearment. She was lucky to have Hailey Kissinger, who shared that same passion, and together they founded the GCHS Baking Club. Martin and Kissinger saw an opportunity to create a friendly and inclusive club, “We felt like it was such a positive thing to add to the school because everyone can enjoy baking,” Kissinger says. Each meeting alternates between planning and making pastries. The club prefers to make pastries baked in ovens such as muffins, cookies, brownies, croissants, and cupcakes rather than no-bake pastries. Martin expressed her hope for the club’s future, “right now we do have a lot of people coming to meetings, so we do hope for it to become like an official club next year”.
