Former One Direction singer, Liam Payne, was found dead at 31 at the bottom of his Casa Sur hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday, October 16. Friends, family, and fans are distraught at the news.

He was reportedly exhibiting erratic behavior before his death that caused the police to be called to the premises, when they arrived they reported hearing a thud and discovered Payne’s body. The autopsy results are still pending; however, there were rumors of him struggling with addiction. The police discovered numerous over-the-counter drugs, alcohol, broken items and other things strewn about and his room in complete disarray. The music world is rattled by this news.

One Direction fan and Grant Community High School junior, Jessica Fritz, said, “I was very sad and shocked about the news. I didn’t really believe it at first. After seeing multiple articles about it and seeing people post about it on social media I was very upset.” Another GCHS junior, Linna Hidrogo, said “I was driving to practice when my aunt’s text popped up on the screen. I literally couldn’t believe that it was real until more texts started coming in. I felt like life just paused. I loved his voice in One Direction. He was a very talented singer and he had amazing vocals that I loved when I was little!”

Fans are shocked as he seemed like such a role model, fellow musicians are grieving, and his family released a heartbroken and loving statement. The exact details of his death have not been released at this time but drugs and unhinged behavior seem to be the cause.
