Keeping morals, family, and hard work in the loop always. With the help and support of her dad and sister, they all shared a great love for bowling. From the beginning, it helped her greatly with her sport and her future after high school.
Savannah has been bow ling since the age of eight Her father, who introduced her to the sport, became her biggest supporter. In the beginning, bowling was something she wanted to do for fun, but soon she realized her talent and love for the sport. This inspired her to take bowling seriously. Her father coached her up until high school and taught her everything she knew. “My dad is the one who started coaching me and he’s been there every step of the way teaching me everything I know”. Savannah Dickson Of course she still went to other coaches and camps to improve her skills. Mr. Dickson mentions that it is important for her to always focus on “One shot at a time.” Other than bowling, Savannah shares a love for many sports and with her church. Both communities shape her as a person and help her a lot with a bowling mindset. “Between her love for God and being part of a team early in life I think that it is building a strong foundation for her future,” Mr. Dickson says.
Although Savannah has been successful in going to state sophomore, junior, and senior year, she has experienced obstacles. During sophomore year for state, she had “no clue what anything was like so [she] was very overwhelmed”, Savannah explains. As a result of her mind game, she did not make it to day two of state. Going on to her junior year she was most fixated on “Making sure [she] was focusing individually on each step of the way”.Once she made it to state her main focus was to make it to day two of state. To her surprise, she ended up becoming a state finalist and took ninth place! Recently she went to an NLCC tournament holding first place! Totaling with 1,291 pins and making a new school record.
Her sister Desiree took sixth place at the same tournament and made all conference. Both sisters being the top two together. When Desiree started high school bowling she explained “ it was tough meeting a lot of people on the team and building lots of bonds.” But with the company of her sister, it made it ten times easier. “ Even though she doesn’t want to pursue bowling in her future, her sister still inspires her to be the best she can be.” Just seeing how hard she works and how seriously she takes the sport it’s inspiring to make my mental game good.”
