When it comes to picking a career, the process can be difficult. Our seniors will be shoved out of this building and
will have to adjust to the so-called “real world”. How do they find a career that suits them?
Ahren Barnickel plans on majoring in Mechanical Engineering and is unsure if that is the career path he is going to take. He was good at math and design, which led him to pick this as a path. To study for this major he’ll be attending St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. A few of the reasons for choosing this school was that it didn’t cost a fortune and it had a good bowling program, which is what sold him on attending there.
Joe Thier has determined that he will be going into the nursing major. He found out that Grant was offering Tech Campus at College of Lake County and they had a Certified Nursing Assistant(CNA) course which only costs $27.00 rather than $1,500.00. He also likes helping people and seeing them happy which was also part of how he decided this path. He’ll be attending a university in Waukesha, Wisconsin and after that, he’ll attend Rush University in Chicago to get his Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) License for nursing.
Caleb Tyree’s career choice is going to be a Quantum Scientist. When it came to determining what his career was, he
wanted to do computer science and had to choose between quantum physics or Engineering. The money also had an
influence on his choice. Money made him want to pursue quantum science but he also finds it very interesting. He really wants to get into NASA because quantum physics has a lot of opportunities to do so. To study this he’ll be attending Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, IL.
From what we’ve seen from some of our seniors is that the process of picking a career or major is finding out what you’re good at and finding somewhere you can apply to. It is also important to consider how much money it’ll cost you and if the payout will be worth it to even out the costs. And now that is what some of our seniors have chosen as a career to survive in this world.
