Grant Community High School Theatre is bringing a childhood classic to life with their student production of The Neverending Story. The 1984 film, celebrated for its themes of imagination, loss, and perseverance, is being reimagined onstage through student performances, detailed costuming and creative set design. Cast members say the goal is to make audiences feel like they’ve stepped inside the movie itself.
Senior Cayden Zeller plays Falkor, the iconic luck dragon. Zeller said the program’s collaborative environment is what makes the production special.
“I love that it’s so inclusive, and you can try so many things and not worry about becoming friends with someone or being good at something; you’re just welcome everywhere,” Zeller stated, “that’s what makes it so fun and interesting.”
With students leading the process both onstage and behind the scenes, Grant Theatre’s adaptation highlights the lasting impact of The NeverEnding Story and why its message still resonates with audiences today.
